Small European postal administrations led by Åland

The annual conference for small European postal administrations (SEPAC) was held in Gibraltar 19-20 April 2012 and attended by representatives from 11 postal administrations out of 14 members. The SEPAC members meet annually to discuss issues of mutual interest within the collectibles business and to acquaint themselves with innovations within the business. Some of the items on the conference agenda were an introduction to new printing methods for stamps and discussions concerning search engine optimization, e-commerce as well as development of new market potentials such as China.

Opened by Gibraltar’s Minister of Culture and held on the top of the Gibraltar Rock, the conference was extensively covered by the local media.

The agenda included a presentation of intelligent stamps by The Lowe Martin Group, a security printing house of Canada. A recently developed new type of stamps allows the customer to scan an intelligent stamp with a Smartphone to receive additional information about the stamp.

A new executive committee was elected during the conference. As Chairman of the Committee for the next three years the members re-elected Anita Häggblom, Director of Åland Post Stamps. Other members of the steering committee are representatives from the postal administrations of Luxembourg and Gibraltar.

Yours sincerely,
SEPAC

Anita Häggblom
Chair
