Paper Cut Festive Scenes to feature on Jersey’s Christmas stamps

2020 Christmas Jersey Festive Scenes - Mint Set

Eight festive Jersey scenes will feature on a set of self-adhesive Christmas stamps to be issued by Jersey Post on 23 November 2020. Designed by creative agency So Design, the scenes have been created from layers of paper cuttings.

“Christmas is a time for fun and family, joy and celebration, but it is also a time for peace and reflection, a time to look back on the year gone by and to think about our hopes for the year to come,” comments Rachel MacKenzie, Jersey Post’s Philatelic Marketing Manager. “Jersey’s beautiful landscapes, with their dramatic coastlines, countryside vistas, and iconic landmarks are the perfect place to escape the festive hustle and bustle and enjoy some quiet contemplation. Enchanting at any time of year, in the lead up to Christmas with a glittering frost and soft wintery light, they are transformed into magical festive scenes.”

The paper cut scenes and landmarks which feature on the stamps are: Le Don Hilton (The White House), Corbière Lighthouse, Grouville Church, Mont Orgueil Castle, Liberation Square, L’Ĭle au Guerdain, St Brelade’s Bay and a field of Jersey cows. Traditional festive icons including a reindeer and a robin, also made from paper cut-outs, can be seen in the foreground. The cuttings have been backlit and photographed in a palette of wintery hues.

As in previous years, Jersey Post has included special stamp tariffs in its Christmas stamp set to allow the people of Jersey to send their Christmas cards for less during the beginning of the festive period.

A set of die-cut Christmas cards featuring the scenes from the stamps are also available.

So Design is a creative agency based in Bristol. The team previously designed Jersey Post’s 2018 Frankenstein stamp issue, which featured a lenticular miniature sheet.
