Jersey stamps embrace autumn

Jersey Seasons_Autumn_Mint Set

Stunning photographs featuring Jersey in the autumn are to appear on Jersey Post’s latest set of stamps to be issued on 15 October 2015.The second in a four part series showcasing the Island through the seasons, each of the eight stamps depicts a different autumnal scene.

The images have been taken by local photographer Andy Le Gresley who also captured the photographs for Jersey Post’s Seasons: Summer stamp issue. Whilst the focus of the summer stamps was coastal landscapes, here Andy has moved more inland to explore some of the Island’s pretty country lanes and woodland trails too.

“There’s often a feeling of sadness that comes with the end of summer,” comments Rachel MacKenzie, Philatelic Marketing Manager at Jersey Post, “but these stamps are a reminder of everything there is to celebrate about autumn; woodland walks on crisp, sunny days, piles of crunchy orange and brown leaves, dramatic storms and spectacular sunsets. The rich gold and russet colours which appear across the set are beautiful and really create a feeling of autumn.”

Featured on the stamps are: a country lane near St John’s village, the sun through the clouds at Corbière, the sand dunes at St Ouen’s Bay, a stormy day at Noirmont Point, a high tide shore break at St Catherine’s Bay, sunset behind the Radio Tower at St Brelade, a woodland path through St Peter’s Valley and Kempt Tower through the beach grass.

The stamps will be available to buy from all branches of Jersey Post from 15 October 2015. Philatelic stamp products such as sets of stamps, First Day Covers and Presentation Packs will be available from the Jersey post office at Rue Des Pres, St Saviour on issue day and can be ordered now at: www.jerseystamps.com or by phoning the Jersey Philatelic Bureau on: 00 44 (0)1534 516320.
