About Historical Site of the Grimaldis Of Monaco - Bathernay

Bathernay, a small village in the Drôme region, 30 km from Valence, is closely linked to the Grimaldi family. Lord Imbert de Bathernay (1438-1523) lived in the manor house depicted on the stamp, which was listed as a historical monument in 1981. An advisor to the Kings of France, he was the grandfather of Diane de Poitiers and the great-grandfather of Françoise de Daillon, who married Jacques II de Matignon in 1558, an ancestor of H.S.H. Prince Albert II of Monaco. The Monegasque Sovereign will visit Bathernay next May and will notably visit the museum dedicated to Imbert, the construction of which He supported.
