80 Years Of The United Nations
About 80 Years Of The United Nations
The United Nations (UN) was founded on 24 October 1945 with the ratification of the Charter of the United Nations signed on 26 June 1945 by China, the United States, France, the United Kingdom, the USSR, and most of the other signatory states. As the body that replaced the League of Nations, its principal mission was to maintain international peace and security by safeguarding human rights and providing humanitarian aid. Over the years, its remit has widened to encompass other challenges, such as tackling the impacts of climate change, HIV/AIDS, gender equality, big data, refugee issues, and sustainable development.
